About This Sketch
‘Yayetak’ is character study using a creature from one of Scott’s favourite video-games as inspiration. Yayetak is a concept study for new characters, in this study Scott has been considering what characters and creatures might look like if they had four legs instead of two.

The original sketch is created using coloured graphite pencil on cartridge paper.
The featured image of Yayetak was edited by DS Coremans using photoshop. The background for the image was removed and the colours of the image were boosted using a colour filter. The background is generated using Photoshop’s generative fill feature.
In the alternate images the colours of the images were blurred to make the creatures design seem more defined.
This hybrid work between Scott and Darren is something new they have been working on together so that both of them can learn new skills, but also so that Scott can get a better sense of how these characters could be developed as he continues to work on his skills as an animator.
Key inspirations for Scott at the moment are from some of his favourite animated movies. From Dreamworks the Shrek franchise, from Blue Sky Studios the Ice Age franchise, and Disney in general, which recently celebrated it’s 100th anniversary as an animation studio.
