Critus
About This Sketch
‘Critus’ is a newly developed concept art for a new creature Scott is considering adding to his IALFEC project.
The original sketch is created using coloured graphite pencil on cartridge paper. The featured image of Critus was edited by DS Coremans using photoshop to blur the colour scheme of Scott’s original sketch, the colours were boosted with a ‘colorpop’ filter and the background from the image was removed before the final image was then outlined in black. This hybrid work between Scott and Darren is something new they have been working on together so that both of them can learn new skills, but also so that Scott can get a better sense of how these characters could be developed as he continues to work on his skills as an animator.
A key inspiration for this project was the computer game Clash Artifacts of Chaos, and the YuGiOh Duel Monsters series.
Another of Scott’s favourite games which inspired the IALFEC creatures is Solar Ash.
