The Terrifying Colours
About This Sketch
‘The Terrifying Colours’ is one of the original ‘Yuzzik’ creatures designed by Scott. The Yuzzik are one of a number of original creatures which are part of his larger collection of bug-like monsters, inspired by Kaiju designs. The full collection of creatures belong to a series of designs Scott has titled ‘The Created Genes’ project. This is an ongoing series of designs which Scott hopes to one day see animated so that he can share the stories he has developed for them.
What is ‘Kaiju’?
‘Kaiju‘ literally means ‘strange creature’, but often in English the word that is most often used to translate the term Kaiju is ‘Monster’. This can be attributed to the fact that traditional Kaiju would often be represented as inherently destructive beings.
Kaiju films usually showcase monsters of any form attacking a major Japanese city or engaging another (or multiple) monsters in battle.

Scott’s creatures though strange and in some ways monstrous are not intended to be seen as destructive in the same way that their inspirations are.
